You are not required to bring your own fishing gear. Fly Fishing Rods & Casting Rods may be rented from Silver Creek Outfitters (500 N Main St. Ketchum, ID 83340 – 208-726-5282).

After fishing, meet again at 5:00 pm at the SNRA (Sawtooth National Recreation Area) parking lot on the East Fork of the Big Wood River for the "make sure everyone is back safe head count". The SNRA parking lot is located 7 miles north of Ketchum on the Big Wood River, maps will be provided.
The cost for this year's fishing event is $35.00. This includes your lunch and stream side gifts for everyone. We will also have awards for best fishing photos. Send photos by email to Connie at firstname.lastname@example.org or by text at 314-324-6076.

Also, you can have your company become a Fishing Excursion Sponsor! All sponsorship money that remains after covering Fishing Excursion Expenses will be donated to the IMPA Scholarship Fund.
We will do our part to keep the habitat safe and sound for another year, so do your best to "catch and release." Don't forget to bring your camera or smart phone. The pictures always tell the truth.
Silver Creek Outfitters: Rents Fishing Gear and Sells Fishing License. All fishermen need a valid Idaho fishing license before they head out to the River. You may also hire a fly fishing guide at Silver Creek to take you on the river for special experiences. That cost is on your own. But make your fly fishing guise request well in advance.
IMPA Fishing Excursion offers a FREE Fly-Fishing Class: next to the Sun Valley Inn on Thursday August 11th from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The Fly-Fishing Class is open to anyone attending the IMPA conference. You do not have to sign up for the Fishing Excursion on Friday to attend the class. The class is taught by instructors from Silver Creek Outfitters. Please indicate during your registration if you will be attending the Fly-Fishing Class. You may also sign-up at the IMPA registration desk on Thursday morning. The Fly-Fishing Class has 20 slots.

Mountain Trail Hike
Overview of Hike
IMPA guides will be leading a hike on one of the many splendid mountain trails in the areas surrounding Sun Valley resort. Every year we choose one of the many trails that offer isolation in an exceptional environment and showcase the iconic views that this area has to offer. We will organize carpools as required to the trail head. The hike will be somewhat strenuous and requires reasonably good physical condition. However, we will have multiple people experienced with the trail and you can latch on to the group that matches your taste for pace – if you want to run, we can accommodate that, if you want to take it very slowly that is also wonderful and will be accommodated. In the mountains, there are no prizes for finishing first, but satisfaction is mandatory and finishing the hike is what it is all about.
Mandatory gear: Please plan on bringing sturdy hiking boots or equivalent trail running shoes (no tennis shoes or sandals please!), a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a lightweight rain jacket, in the event of a late afternoon thunderstorm that may take place at higher elevations.
Optional gear: Light backpack or hip pack, camera, energy bars or snacks, walking poles, and chap stick.
Self-Guided Relaxed Walks
If you would prefer to take it easy, we can recommend and provide maps for a number of relaxed walks leaving directly from the resort by foot or a short drive away.
White Water Rafting on the Main Salmon in Stanley
Experience the rapids, history, and wildlife found on Idaho's Salmon River. The Salmon River has been designated a National Wild & Scenic River receiving special protection for its unspoiled wilderness, diverse wildlife and crystal clear waters.
This Class II/III trip is available to only registered IMPA conference attendees and guests. Your guides are the best in the business, and ensure your day is safe, fun, and full of entertainment. We can accommodate a variety of comfort levels by offering different boat options. The Salmon River carves a beautiful canyon through the Idaho landscape where you might find ospreys, deer, beavers, and otters. This designated Wild & Scenic river plunders between mammoth Granite boulders creating family fun whitewater and crystal clear swimming holes.
Please dress in non-cotton clothing if possible. Remember sunglasses and sunscreen. River Sandals or secure footwear are very helpful, too. Sack lunches are included in your activity and will be available outside the Ballroom starting at 11:30am.
Directions: From Sun Valley, continue north on highway 75 to Stanley, Idaho. Turn left on Hwy 21 into Stanley and continue to Niece Ave. Turn Left . You will find Sawtooth Adventure Company at the intersection of Ace of Diamonds Blvd and Niece Ave .
Cost: $135 per person which includes lunch, rafting, guides, and guide gratuities.
Please help us raise money for the IMPA Scholarship Fund, our support of the Dairy Worker Safety Program, and our year round activities supporting the interests of the industry - and at the same time, enjoy a great round of golf at the famous Sun Valley Golf Course!
The tournament will take place at 1:30pm, Friday August the 12th. This year we will have a traditional 4-person scramble. The group will be divided into two flights. There will be trophies awarded for both Gross and Net. The tournament fee this year is $210 per golfer. Lunch will be provided at the course for golfers only starting at noon prior to golf. (Please have your four-person team and handicap for each player when you register for golf.)
